Working in a Workspace
History and versions
Verified against Soffi ·
History is the record of everything saved in a Workspace, by you, by your teammates and by Soffi. Open the History tab (or press H) to see it, newest first. Because several people and Soffi can work in one Workspace at once, History is where you find out what happened while you weren't looking, and where you go back when something you liked got changed.
What each entry shows
Each entry is a version of your Workspace: a set of edits saved together and treated as one thing. It shows who made it, what it was, how many files it touched and when, and whether it has been pushed to your pull request yet. When Soffi makes an edit for you, it's saved under your name, because you asked for it. Click an entry to read its full description and the diff for each file.
A colored dot on an entry shows whether the app still passed its checks after that version: passing, being checked, being fixed by Soffi, or needing attention. If the newest version needs attention, click the dot to see what failed.
Revert and roll back
Both are on each entry's menu, and both move forward: they add a new version that undoes work, and they never erase anything from History. The version you undid stays in the list, marked Reverted, so the record of what was tried survives.
- Revert commit undoes one version and leaves everything after it in place. Use it when one edit was wrong and the rest were fine.
- Roll back to here returns the Workspace to how it was at that version, undoing everything made after it in a single step. Use it when the last hour went the wrong way and you want the earlier state back.
The Preview refreshes when either finishes. You can revert a revert, too, if you change your mind.
Soffi can roll back for you too. Ask her to go back to an earlier point, and she adds the same kind of new version.
How this reaches your pull request
Reverts and rollbacks are ordinary versions, so they show as not pushed until you Ship again, and then they go to your pull request with everything else. Nothing in the pull request's history is rewritten.
If a revert can't be applied, History says which version it failed on and why, and you can try again.
